




THE STORY:
THE BRIDGE BETWEEN GENERATIONS
I enjoy savoring wine, but I never had a special relationship or attachment to any particular winery or brand. I never even intended to create one or a wine... until, following a discussion with my father, I discovered my deep connection to the tradition and the Magargiu generations.
The Legacy of Grandfather Costică and Grandmother Vica
After the death of Grandfather Costică, I tried to convince my father to stop working the vineyard, due to health issues. After long insistence, he confessed that he could not abandon the vineyard that Grandfather Costică and Grandmother Vica had planted and worked for so many years.
That's when I decided: instead of convincing him to give up the vineyard, I would help him work it more easily and improve my grandfather's recipe. Year after year, he and Grandmother Vica preserved the tradition.
Vinul Costică: A Tribute and a Promise
I started with a portion of the wine, the Othello variety, selecting only this grape to see its capabilities for aging and preservation over time. I will continue to preserve the vineyard and the wine, bringing the contribution of my generation.
The first thing I wanted was to no longer have wine only from one year to the next, but to start preserving. To preserve in memory of the times, the seasons, the people, and the stories.
From Consumption to Story and Culinary Pairings
The project evolved from simple consumption to a complex story about family and culinary pairings. It is a bridge:
•From "I have to go home this year" to family celebration events.
•From generation to generation, through GRATITUDE.
The Magargiu Generations
The top photo is with the generation of Costică and his wife, Vica. He, "The Young and Strong One", "The Loving One", "The Gentle One" with everyone and, later, "The Wise One", for whom family and relatives meant everything. Now, he will become "The Noble One" as a sign of gratitude for everything they did for their loved ones.
The two photos below are of my parents, with whom I will continue all these traditions, in memory of the past generations.
The Vision for the Future
And if I'm going to do it, I'm going to do it completely. I have a plan for the next 25 years, when I will open a restaurant and a winery in Islaz. During this time, I will age everything in memory of Costică's generation and will look for investors for something great.
I am starting timidly, with the wine and a few food recipes based on local and seasonal ingredients only. Wine does not go to the table alone, no matter how good it is.
About Authentic Taste
When I say "seasonal," I mean that ingredient that has the taste we remember from the old days, but which is only available for a short period. You won't find the same taste from month to month, from year to year.
Like with wine, one year is better, another less so... one soil is better, another less so... one area is better, another less so... and that means quality, because it is not "helped" to reach the same taste.
But we will keep talking about all this. I will keep you periodically updated on what is happening both in the cellar and in the kitchen, because wine does not go well on an empty stomach.
